The August newsletter from The Witch's Corner is up and out...

There's been a few changes and updates at my website, and I included a few personal updates as well-- about home and family, critters and kids.
I hope this finds everyone well and happy-- it's hot here, too hot for the bonfire and weenie roast the kids were looking forward to; but I can…

I went to the INATS-West (International New Age Trades Show in Denver) June 28th & 29th 2008 & met several authors (Ivo Dominguez Jr., Ted Andrews, Raven Digitalis), artists (Jessica Galbreth & Linda Biggs), & musicians (Donna Michael, High Priestess, & Richard Shulman), but the MOST memorable person I met there was Raymond Buckland. He is SO down-to-Earth & personable that I thoroughly enjoyed being in his presence!! I told him about the books of his that I have & as… Continue

The July newsletter for The Witch's Corner is up and out. Since I've had several requests lately for protection spells and charms, I decided to include a few in this month's newsletter. Let me warn you that witchcraft can be a very earthy practice, not necessarily for the feint of heart.

I just had to share this wonderful news. Well at least to me lol. I have just bought me a spinning wheel. I have been wanting one for a very long time and I have saved up the money and bought me one today. I am so looking forward to learning a very old craft that has been with us since the beginning of time just about. I bought me a Kromski Prelude, I like the look of it, it's look like the kind that you would see in a fairy tale. But I am looking forward to making my own yarn, and making some b… Continue

With great pay and benefits. Hours totally suck though. Well, not too bad I guess. He works one late night, two overnights, and then two early mornings. Tonight is the first of his two overnights. I'll get used to it. We'll finally have the money to do things we want to do. He won't be at those hours forever.
Tonight I'll put Elora to bed, help get my Dear Husband off to work. Then I'll put in an exercise video. Take a shower and get the parafin wax maching going. I deserve to give myself a man… Continue

Formal training in the Craft.
To start off with I have no formal training in my chosen path, everything I have learned has been by trial and error. And what books or what I have found on the net. Now I have been walking my path for 17 years.
What is my path you ask? Well my main path is Kitchen Witchery, in layman terms I'm just a Witch and a very proud one. But 17 years ago I didn't have the luxury that is available now for many starting on the path of Paganism. I didn't have the wonderful bo… Continue

Went to the Relay for Life last night. Set a luninary for my uncle and for a friend of a friend who just recently passed from cancer. It was so difficult to light that candle. It was like for the first timeI really had to acknowledge his passing. I broke down a little bit several times through the night. The event was quite fun however and I ended up really enjoying myself.
There were baked goods for sale, carnival games like a bean bag toss for stuffed toys, etc. All money was going to cancer… Continue

It looks like it is going to be really nice here this morning. The hummingbirds are coming up to their feeder. I love to watch those little buggars they are so cute. It is just so awesome how something that small can function you know. It is a miracle..

I just wonder sometimes where does the time go. As we grow up the time seems to be at a standstill as we go from class to class. We can't wait for the last class on a Friday and look forward to the week ends. Then we hit our teen years and we can hardly wait to go to school so we can see our boyfriends or girlfriends. And we wish our lives away a year at a time. Oh to be 10, 13, sweet sixteen, 18 yea now I can smoke and do as I please. then the big one 21.. Now we party for the next couple years… Continue

How about making a Mother's Altar today? Find a representation of the Goddess in her Mother Aspect. Add a lovely doily or table cloth. Choose a pink candle (love), a photo of you and your mom. Sit back and as you light the candle, remember the day in the photo. Remember the fun the two of you were having. Build all that love and happy feelings into a ball of energy and send it to the universe for your mother.
What a nice gift for mothers day be mom nearby, miles away, or perhaps crossed over.… Continue

While my husband slumbers a little bit longer, my daughter and I enjoy breakfast. She eats mixed grain cereal and some fresh fruit and a graham cracker while I linger happily over coffee and a graham cracker with peanut butter. I'm weird. I work at my office until 9pm (it's a college with night classes) so I'll eat an early dinner at 4pm and then after work if I'm hungry I nab a bowl of cold sheredded wheat cereal. I've noticed by changing to this habit, I was able to break through my plateau an… Continue

It's raining! So much for plan A. Doesn't matter. Though we won't have room for a maypole now, we can still drum as part of the ritual and so I emailed to inform the coven of plan B. LOL! Always have a backup plan in GA if you want to do anything outdoors!
We'll have a lovely ritual despite the weather. It's still warm enough to have ritual outdoors, just too wet. So we've moved to my apartment patio. This means limited space, but we'll still outdoors and nice and dry. I just have to get some i… Continue
This month The Grove is honoring the month of May and Beltane with spells of romance, love, and marriage. Find out what the tarot card of the month is and see if it connects with you. There's a controversial book featured in The Book Nook this month-- and it will be a must have for many witches! The three videos added were created by one of our own members-- I'm sure you'll find the videos, as well as the creatrix, charming and delightful...

Tomorrow I will have been married to my wonderful husband for 2 years. We've been together for 4 1/2 now and we have a lovely *nearly* 7 month old daughter. I remember how we met like yesterday.
I was on my own for the first time in my life (long depressing story I don't want to go into). I was living with my sister and her family looking for my own place for a short time when I first moved out of home. (I financially supported my mom and grandmother for many years. It was an emotionally abusiv… Continue

I'm all a flutter about our anniversary and Beltaine! We have a nice little gathering coming over, some participating in ritual and some not. The night before I"m making some chicken BBQ for sandwiches, coleslaw, and maybe some devilled eggs....(yum). I'm also making a cake. (inner squee) I don't really eat cake, but our friends do and I like making them. It's going to just be a simple cake but I'm going to put some fresh roses on it. Lovely! I'll tint the frosting a pale lavender as my wedding… Continue

A very good friend of mine that I have known since first grade just got some very bad news. The doctors have found something suspicious on his Kidney and he is a little freaked out by it. Just about a month ago he survived blood poisoning and some other illnesses. It started with a rash on his arms and escelated. Now they believe this is all from the same source. However they are not telling him a whole lot yet. I am writting because I would appreciate if everyone who can would send some energy… Continue

Earth Day yet once again caught me unprepared. ;) I don't why I always forget one of the most important days of the year. So anyhow, I want to get into a habit of doing something each Earth Day special with my daughter. Today, I'm making an effort to be more green and organic. I'm actually slowly moving my household to be more green. We have recycling containers at our apartment complex so there really is no excuse for not recycling. I'm buying organic coffee and I'm looking into organic veggies… Continue

I have a friend who takes 10 minutes once in a while and just posts about whatever is on her mind. Seriously. So I borrow the idea from her sometimes. It's time for my 10 minutes of crap on my mind.
I've finally broken the plateau of my near 2 month stagnant weight loss. Yipppeee! I'm also going to try to keep my sis going through email and stuff since she wants to go to WW but right now just cannot afford it. I hope she enjoys it with me and does well. I hope to lose at least 3 pounds this wee… Continue

I did finally manage to get a workout in though. Next weekend I'm going to walk for the March of Dimes. Still have a lot of money to raise thoguh. At least I managed to workout since I've avoided it all week. Bein… Continue

I've been busy lately. Elora, my husband, and I have all been down with a cold. We're bouncing back. Elora better than anyone! She is so amazing. Creamed Spinach is still her guilty pleasure (go figure, but at least her favorite comfort food is healthy). I still drink too much coffee. Need to drink more water. I'm usually really good about it, but the past two days, not so much. It's the cold. Water tastes kinda odd right now. I'm trying some water flavoring to have an easier time until I feel b… Continue

Well momma and papa bird have been busy since discovering the abadoned nest at my patio. I took my husband's cell phone and reached up to take a picture of the nest since they were in the nearby tree. I had to be very careful not to touch anything. We have 5 eggs! Elora is going to enjoy watching the baby birds.
So tonight, I'm going to put up some bird feed for small birds. Momma must get all the food she can so she can feed the little ones what she's able to catch when they hatch. :) I got a… Continue
Natural Hairball Remedies
Adapted from The Kitten Owner's Manual, by Arden Moore (Storey Books, 2001).
If you have a cat, you know how worrisome hairballs can be, and what nasty little surprises they are when you find one unexpectedly.
Try these simple tips to keep your beloved cats hairball-free:
1. Regular brushing will reduce the amount of fur your cat ingests. Most cats adore being gently brushed, so keep a cat brush next to each of your favorite chairs. When kitty jumps in your la… Continue

My daughter, Elora, is 6 months old today. What a grand day it is for our little family. My wee girl said her first word today! It was "hi". :) I really though it would be Mama or Dada, but no. It was "hi". She said it when my sister came to visit my mom and she said it again when my sister was holding her and my grandmother came into the room. Elora also loves the song "Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes". When you get to "nose" she gets excited and points to her nose. ;) :) I have such a bright… Continue

Is alive . Last night the lady of the lake aproached in my mirror. She told about something that occured in 1978 in the water. And that the answer lies in the wind. She wanted us to listen to the wind as it speaks. This has some meaning in what occurs today with the global warming .
If someone of you could interpret what she means by this I would be glad.
Blessed Be AnnA
